Straight Talk - with Dr. Rhonda Fine

Posted by: MIAMI Institute @ 1:15 pm  — March 16, 2011

Dear Dr Fine,

Every Spring my family would get involved in the big project of reorganizing and cleaning our house. Since I do not live at home anymore and I don’t own my own home I feel as if that activity now has little significance for me, but I do feel a sense of loss. Any suggestions?

Angel

Dear Angel,

Spring is the transition period between winter and summer. The days get warmer and daylight is longer. Nature awakens, bringing with it new life on earth. Springtime brings the universal energy that springs us forward. It’s a time of Rebirth, Renewal and Regrowth.

Cultures all over the world participate in the ritual of Spring Cleaning. “Out with the old and in with the new”.
I believe Spring is the perfect time to revaluate, renew and to make new, New Years Resolutions.
One of the most important behaviors associated with success is perseverance. To take this time to refocus and recommit to our goals, while reevaluating why we have not been successful thus far this year will bring us closer to our achieving them.

It will also prevent us from feeling as if we have failed for the reminder of the year. Recommitting to our dreams will give us a new motivation and a sense of accomplishment. Spring is a metaphor for the “Start of Better Times and New Beginnings” I suggest you just jump in!

FACIAL REJUVENATION AND NON-INVASIVE PROCEDURES

Posted by: MIAMI Institute @ 11:38 am  — March 9, 2011

“Lunch Hour Facelifts” are becoming increasingly popular.  A combination of Thermage and IPL Photo Facials, another “non-surgical face lift, offers great results. Thermage is increasingly popular, mainly because it’s so different. IPL is a light-based treatment, whereas Thermage uses radio frequency. Thermage’ debut has definitely made the skincare world abuzz with the results showing a tighter face and an increase collagen production. Unlike IPL, which uses light energy, Thermage uses radio frequencies to accomplish this.  Thermage is FDA approved for skin tightening which adds to its allure.

These treatments also work best on younger skin, those of you in your 30’s or 40’s.

Facial rejuvenation and non-invasive procedures

For the last several years, the emerging trend in cosmetic surgery has been moving away from surgery and toward non-invasive procedures.

What is the difference between Lasers and Light-based therapies (IPL)

What we call (IPL) Intense Pulse Light or Photo Rejuvenation or Photo Facial—they are all light based therapy. They are not laser therapies per se. The difference between the Laser and the IPL is the spectrum of the light. Lasers are usually one wave length and they are more precise.  Lasers have more narrow “indications” than any type of (IPL) Intense Pulse Light or Photo Rejuvenation or Photo Facial light therapy.  (IPL) Intense Pulse Light or Photo Rejuvenation or Photo Facial has a broad spectrum of light that can successfully treat Rosacea, spider veins, sun spots or hyperpigmentation and fine wrinkles at the same time while it tightens the skin.

Lasers such as the Vascular Laser and lasers that can do skin resurfacing are very specialized and can only perform the function for which they were intended. Some lasers are strictly vascular and only treat spider veins.  This can be a much more effective treatment than light based therapies. Lasers that do skin resurfacing (CO2 Lasers and Erbium: YAG  Lasers) were created to do skin resurfacing—to remove the upper layer of the skin epidermis and part of the dermis, which, in this process, also removes sunspots and small to moderate wrinkles. Laser resurfacing will stimulate the creation of new skin or new epidermis.

For the last several years, the emerging trend in cosmetic surgery has been moving away from surgery and toward non-invasive procedures.  A majority of patients can no longer afford the downtime associated with surgery. Another factor in this emerging trend has to do with the great leap technology has made in producing better quality products and procedures that can help patients achieve facial rejuvenation with better results, less discomfort, less downtime and even less cost.

WHAT IS THE BODY’S “COMMUNICATION SYSTEM”?

Posted by: MIAMI Institute @ 11:33 am  —

We invite you to join the growing number of people who have reclaimed their health and sense of wellbeing by rebalancing the body’s Communication System. Let us assess, monitor, and correct, the underlying causes of many chronic symptoms you may be experiencing, which may likely be associated to imbalances in your body’s “Communication System.” Using revolutionary natural and non-drug clinical models, Dr. Remos can uncover imbalances in your body’s Communication System and correct many of the symptoms that you experience.

If you have any of the following symptoms, you may have
imbalances in your Communication System:

•    Mood disorders: depression, anxiety, OCD (obsessive-compulsive disorder)
•    Sleep disorders: insomnia, unable to stay asleep, sleep apnea
•    Metabolic disorders: fatigue, low stamina, low body temperature, hypoglycemia, diabetes
•    Memory disorders: poor recall, unable to focus
•    Eating disorders: cravings, lack of appetite control
•    GI disorders: IBS with constipation or diarrhea
•    Hormonal disorders: PMS, peri-menstrual symptoms, low libido
•    Pain disorders: joint pain, headaches, fibromyalgia

What is the body’s “Communication System”?

The brain initiates signals to the body in the form of chemical messages called neurotransmitters. These neurotransmitters further stimulate the body’s glands, which secrete hormones. These hormones travel throughout the body and attach to the organs of the body at what are called “receptors.” If there is a breakdown in this system, the message is either incorrect, or the signal too strong or weak, resulting in symptoms throughout the body. How do I know if I have imbalances in the Communication System?

An initial assessment is an important first step in reestablishing your health and wellbeing. Identifying the beginning of an imbalance allows correction before it has heavily impacted your health. A series of assessments, however, is an important part of a program designed to correct the cause(s) of symptoms and conditions such as those listed above. Dr. Remos will first run a baseline test that includes easy non-invasive urine collection and saliva collection. He will provide you with a collection kit to take home, collect your samples as instructed in the kit and return it to the lab.

We will receive your report from the lab within a couple weeks. This information will help Dr. Remos identify imbalances in your communication system. He will then make treatment recommendations that include natural formulas specifically targeted to address the imbalances that were detected, plus any lifestyle changes that may be needed.

As part of a complete program, you will be retested and, if necessary, changes made to your initial protocols by your clinician. Once you reach a state of optimal balance, Dr. Remos may suggest a protocol for you to maintain and prevent further symptoms that should preserve your state of health until you return for your usual checkup. For the month of March we are offering 30% off a Sanesco HP profile and visit with Dr. Remos. A savings of $219.00. Call us today to schedule your appointment.

BREAST AUGMENTATION SURVIVES A BAD ECONOMY

Posted by: MIAMI Institute @ 11:22 am  —

Despite a wonky economic climate, breast augmentation continues its trend as the top requested surgery for the second year in a row, with over 300,000 estimated procedures nationwide. While plastic surgeons were clearly affected by the recession, many around the country are seeing strong demand in their communities and are therefore very optimistic, especially the combination of liposuction and breast augmentation, which is in high demand as summer approaches.

Here at The Miami Institute, Dr. Craft is offering an incentive to patients seeking breast augmentation…a complimentary area of liposuction. “Although the economy continues to have problems, patients who desire to have cosmetic surgery are finding a way to have it done,” said Dr. Craft.

“Many of our patients felt the economic squeeze in late 2009 and 2010, mostly due to financial insecurity and limited access to credit. Over the past several months, we have seen a strong resurgence in patient interest and volume that appears to be well ahead of economic indicators. I believe that this is testimony to the high level of motivation that people in Miami have for self-improvement, feeling better about their appearance, and increasing their self-confidence.”

The general consensus appears to be that various non-surgical treatments and continued interest in breast augmentation are the “recession-proof” offerings keeping surgeons busy.

Dr. Craft mentions the reintroduction of gel breast implants as a factor pushing breast augmentation procedures to the top. Despite the bad rap that silicone had he says, “Most of my younger patients who are getting breast augmentation were only learning to walk when the moratorium on silicone gel implants came down. To them it’s ancient history and they don’t really know what went on.”

The latest statistics show that breast implants are indeed favored among younger women. For patients 19-34 years old, it was the most chosen surgery, while patients age 35-50 actually chose liposuction more frequently. For the month of March we are offering one area of liposuction complimentary with each breast augmentation with Dr. Craft. A savings of $4,000.00. Call us today to schedule your appointment.
